How to clean a Galaxy speaker

Galaxy phones support vibration in the browser, which adds a little extra shake to every pulse.

1

Switch off sound effects

Turn off Dolby Atmos and any equaliser in Settings, Sounds and vibration, Sound quality and effects, so the tone plays exactly as generated.

2

Remove case and Buds

Take off the case and disconnect Galaxy Buds or other Bluetooth audio.

3

Vibrate on, speaker down

Leave Vibrate with the pulses switched on, hold the bottom edge down and press Start.

4

Test both sides

Most recent Galaxy phones are stereo, with the earpiece as the second speaker. Check both in the speaker test.

If your Galaxy says moisture has been detected

Galaxy phones block wired charging when they sense moisture in the USB-C port. Unplug the cable, shake the phone gently with the port facing down, and let it air-dry before charging. The alert clears by itself once the port is dry. Wireless charging may still work in the meantime.

Why Galaxy grilles collect lint

The bottom speaker grille on most Galaxy phones is a row of small holes beside the USB-C port, right where pocket lint collects. If the sound is dull rather than wet, switch to Dust shake, then brush across the holes with a soft, dry toothbrush.

Need more detail on brushing? The speaker dust cleaner page covers safe methods step by step.

Common Galaxy speaker problems

Muffled after rain or a splash

  • Run Water eject two or three times with Vibrate on.
  • Let the phone air-dry before charging.

Volume seems capped

  • Check Settings, Sounds and vibration, Volume, Media volume limiter.
  • Turn it off or raise the limit, then retest.

One side quieter

  • Check Left and right sound balance in Accessibility, Hearing enhancements.
  • Then run Left and Right in the speaker test.

Crackling at high volume

  • Run Dust shake and brush the grille.
  • If crackling stays at every volume, the speaker may be damaged.

Samsung speaker questions

Yes. The tool runs in Chrome and Samsung Internet on any Galaxy phone. The steps are the same; only the grille position varies slightly by model.

It adds a small mechanical shake in time with the pulses. The sound does most of the work, but there’s no downside to leaving it on.

Don’t play cleaning tones with earbuds in your ears. Clean Buds by hand with a dry swab and a soft brush.

Some moisture can sit deep in the port. Leave it unplugged in a dry place for a while. If the alert never clears, have the port checked.
