For stubborn muffling
Stronger, rotating bass bursts for speakers that still sound muffled after a normal water eject or dust cycle.
Turn your volume all the way up, then press Start.
Which speaker plays?
How does each range sound?
Listen for rattling, crackling or a range that drops out. Many phones have a single loudspeaker, so left and right may both come from the same place.
Deep clean works the speaker harder, so use it as the second step, not the first.
Run Water eject or Dust shake once. Most splashes and dust clear there with less effort on the speaker.
Remove the case, switch off Silent mode and set the device volume to maximum.
Hold the speaker facing down and let the 90 second cycle run. Tap the back of the phone gently against your palm as it plays.
Give it a minute between cycles, then check with the speaker test before running another.
Water eject plays one steady 165 Hz pulse pattern. Deep clean rotates through 110, 165 and 220 Hz in 1.5 second blocks, and breaks the 165 Hz block into rapid bursts six times a second.
Different frequencies make different droplet and particle sizes move the most, so rotating gives each a turn. The bursts create sharp changes in air pressure that help shift water that has settled into the mesh.
If three deep cycles make no difference, the speaker probably isn’t blocked. Water may be inside the device, or the speaker may be damaged. Running more cycles won’t help, so get it checked instead.
Already hearing crackles or rattles? Switch to Gentle mode on the main cleaner, which is easier on a tired speaker.
It’s safe for normal speakers, but more isn’t always better.
Deep clean is for what’s left over, not the first try.
A minute of rest lets loosened water drain and keeps the speaker cool.
Light taps against your palm help droplets fall out.
Three cycles is plenty. After that, the problem is probably elsewhere.
The bursts are loud and harsh up close.
Use Gentle mode instead, then test.
Yes for a healthy speaker. It’s about as demanding as loud, bass-heavy music for a minute and a half. Avoid long nonstop sessions.
Water eject is one steady pulsed tone. Deep clean rotates three frequencies and adds fast bursts, which helps with water that has settled deeper into the mesh.
One to three cycles with a short rest between them. If nothing improves, stop and get the phone checked.
Yes. Larger speakers handle deep clean well. On laptops, run it only if the laptop itself is dry and working normally.
